Raffaele Fitto nominated for Executive Vice Presidents of the European Commission
“An important victory for all Italians,” said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, highlighting the “centrality of the country” in Europe. Italian Raffaele Fitto and Spanish Teresa Ribera have been confirmed as Executive Vice Presidents. The decision came after a long and difficult review process in the European Commission.
Socialists and Liberals have protested against Fitto’s nomination, stating that “he needs to be independent from the Italian government.”
