Clashes erupt between right and left wing student groups at La Sapienza University
At La Sapienza University in Rome, fights broke out between left-wing student groups and the right-wing student group Azione Universitaria. The trouble started near the Faculty of Law when the two groups clashed on campus when right-wing students handing out flyers were stopped by left-wing activists. During the chaos, a security guard was hit on the head with a bottle. The clashes later continued near the Faculty of Economics.
InpsServizi hit by malware attack, restoration efforts underway
InpsServizi, an Italian administrative accounting service, was hit by a ransomware attack that caused some servers to stop working, making certain tools and client data temporarily unavailable. The incident has been reported to the authorities, and investigations are ongoing. The Contact Center, which provides support, was not affected and is still working. Italian citizen arrested in Egypt, mother has lost contact
Italo-Egyptian actor Elanain Sharif was arrested in Cairo on November 9, as he landed. He is in a prison in Alexandria, but his mother is having trouble contacting him. He spent the first days in Cairo in “inhumane conditions”, his lawyer denounces. “Unable to sleep, he could only lie down for half an hour. To sit in a chair, even for a few minutes, he had to pay” he added. The reason for the arrest is still unclear.
Baby goes back to his mother after American father took him away
A baby has been handed over to his mother by California authorities, the Ministry of Foreign affair announces. He was taken by his American father on August 30th, during a vacation in the Puglia region. The judge has decided on temporary custody of the mother. A second judge will decide on the application of the Hague International Convention and who will have permanent custody of him.
Raffaele Ventura’s sentence for 1977 murder declared expired, European arrest warrant revoked
Raffaele Ventura, a former member of a left-wing terrorist organization, has had his sentence for the 1977 murder of Antonio Custra deemed expired due to the passage of time. The Milan Court ruled that the remaining 14 years of his sentence are no longer valid, clearing the way for his return to Italy. The Italian film Vermiglio by Maura Delpero has been selected among 85 countries to compete for the Oscar for Best International Feature Film. The shortlist of 15 films will be announced on December 17, with the final nominees revealed on January 17, 2025. The Oscars ceremony will take place on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
