Andrea Charur

At 22, Andrea Charur has already crossed an ocean in pursuit of her dream. Born and raised in Miami, she first tried New York, the beating heart of American journalism. “It seemed like the right place,” she recalls, “but it wasn’t my city.” She eventually settled in Orlando, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, a milestone that left her both accomplished and restless.

After graduation, instead of chasing the traditional American dream, Andrea decided to do the opposite: she packed her bags and moved to Europe. Rome, and the Master in Journalism and Multimedia Communication at Luiss, are now her new starting point.

Writing has always been her comfort zone, a space where she feels free to think, question and connect ideas. It was through writing that Andrea first found herself drawn to the climate crisis. Her passion for environmental journalism began almost by accident, when someone gave her a book on climate change. The words she read left a mark: “It’s absurd that people don’t realize how serious the climate situation is, and what we’re heading toward.”

Andrea isn’t chasing headlines or the adrenaline of breaking news. What drives her is the desire to go deeper, to raise awareness and to tell stories that can spark change. For her, journalism is not just about reporting facts: it’s about responsibility.

With her suitcase always ready and her eyes fixed beyond the Atlantic, Andrea left Miami to embark on an adventure that will help her shape her voice in journalism.

Whether her next step will take her back to the United States or into a European newsroom, her goal is clear: to build a career as a journalist able to report on the defining issues of our time.
