Elin Kaasa

For Elin Kaasa, life has always been defined by movement and connections. At twenty-five, she has the spirit of someone who has never stopped searching for new horizons.
She is drawn to environments where she can engage deeply with others, creating networks and friendships while exploring how her actions impact the people around her.

Sailing with her family in her childhood, traversing from Norway to the Caribbean and Mediterranean waters, may be the pillars of her openness to the world.

Initially interested to mathematics and social sciences, and considering economics like her older sister, Elin discovered the world of computer science. Programming, system architecture, and problem solving appealed to her as a combination of logic and creativity. Even if she has always been passionate about her studies, she felt something was missing. An inner voice led her to journalism, a field where she could engage with social, cultural, and integration issues, bringing clarity in a landscape often misled by disinformation.

She considers her background in informatics as an advantage, because it will allow her to navigate the growing relevance of technology in media by using her competences and her unique perspective.
Elin’s path has never been linear. Before fully committing to higher education, she spent a year working in a supermarket, unsure of what to pursue. She has embraced uncertainty as part of the process, seeing value in experiences even without a clear vision of the future. At the same time, she approaches life with pragmatism, weighing risks and caring about details. Despite friends often tell her to relax, she finds meaning in challenges, believing that the struggles she faces give life depth and purpose. Running and hiking help her maintain balance, providing clarity and a sense of strength as she navigates ups and downs.

Her international experiences have also shaped her worldview. She spent a year in Australia as an exchange student and some months in Vienna during an Erasmus program. Abroad she formed friendships with Italian students, sparking a fascination with Italian culture that lighted up her interest in studying the language in Rome. For Elin, Rome is not just a city, it represents a community she wants to integrate into, a space where she can build a life, meet new people, and continue growing through shared experiences.

Yet Norway remains a central anchor in her life. Returning home provides comfort, stability, and the ability to reflect on her personal growth. Each visit reminds her how much richer her experiences abroad have made her, even as she appreciates the sense of calm her homeland provides.

Elin’s high ambitions are now guided by both pragmatism and passion. She carefully considers the consequences of her actions and is motivated by the potential impact she can have through journalism. Her focus is no longer only on personal success but on community and building connections.

Just like when she was sailing with her father around the globe, Elin’s story is a continuous navigation through ideas, cultures, friendships, and responsibilities. Her path to personal success will not be defined only by her experience in computer science, her passion for sports and travel, or her future in journalism. She follows what brings growth, meaningful connections, and purpose to her life, embracing the challenges along the way, knowing that it is precisely this engagement with complexity that gives her journey its true value.
