Sharm el-Sheikh hosts peace summit for ceasefire

Meloni is one of the twenty world leaders at the peace summit at Red Sea Resort in Sharm el-Sheikh for the signing of the peace plan between Israel and Hamas. U.S. President Donald Trump brokered the deal, and he is co-hosting the summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. “Today is a historic day,” Meloni said on X. “The hostages have been freed: an extraordinary achievement, the fruit of determined international diplomacy and the implementation of the first part of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan”.

Polls closing soon for regional elections in Tuscany

Second day of voting to elect the president of the Tuscany region, with polls closing at 3 p.m. Votes will be counted in the afternoon, and results are expected in the evening. The candidates are Eugenio Giani (centre-left incumbent), Alessandro Tomassi (centre-right and current mayor of Pistoia), and Antonella Bundu (left-wing Red Tuscany list). 

Criticism of school trips to Auschwitz

Family Minister Eugelio Roccella said that Italian school trips to Auschwitz were organized to teach children the link between anti-semitism and fascism, garnering criticism among the left-wing parties for trivializing. Among those criticising Rocella is Holocaust survivor and Senator Liliana Segre. 

Government’s qualification programs in Tunisia show success
