Driver killed in bus attack by basketball fans

1️⃣ Fans of rival basketball team kill coach employee

The second driver on board a Jimmy Travel coach bus was allegedly hit by a brick thrown by Rieti Sebastian Basket fans on a bus carrying several supporters of the rival team, Pistoia. The incident on the A2 highway followed a match between the two teams where Pistoia won 88 to 73. Investigators are trying to determine if the death is voluntary manslaughter, but no suspects have been identified yet.

2️⃣ Foreign minister clarifies Trump tweet that Italy is breaking with EU on trade

Antonio Tajani said Italy will continue to negotiate agreements on U.S. within the European Union. U.S. President Donald Trump reposted a tweet that suggested Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni would negotiate a separate deal for Italy. “We have always worked with the EU, and thanks to Italy, we have been able to make some important steps forward,” Tajani said in a press statement.

Deputy Premier Matteo Salvini stated Monday that Italian banks, which he said are recording €50 billion in profits, “cannot be heard” complaining about a new contribution to the state budget.
The government has agreed to a plan that collect €11 billion from banks and insurers over three years.
Salvini called it “correct” for banks to make a “small contribution” to help consumers.

The Servizio Sanitario Nazionale is using the 2026 budget to hire more nurses than is needed for the natural turnover, said Italian Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci at the Red Cross Florence Nightingale Medal ceremony. The bodies of Javed and Nadia Akhtar have arrived in Nagpur eighteen days after a truck collided with their rental car near Grosetto. Their eldest daughter, Aarzoo, remains in critical condition in Milan, while the two younger siblings, Jezel and Shifa, survived and returned home. Javed owned the Gulshan Plaza at Sitabuldi.
