Taylor Swift, America’s second most listened-to singer on Spotify in 2022 with a nearly 20-year career in the music business behind her, will be named after one of the cities where her new tour ‘The Eras Tour‘ will land.
The Mayor of Glendale, Arizona, Jerry P. Weiers, announced o that for two days the city will be symbolically named ‘Swift City‘ in honour of Taylor Swift’s two opening shows.
«Glendale is honoured to host Taylor Swift at State Farm Stadium on the evenings of 17 and 18 March» began Mayor Weiers. «The swifties (the name of the singer’s fans) will have the opportunity to shake it off (referring to her famous song Shake it off) on Taylor Swift’s music for the first time in five years».
The mayor told Zeta: «One of my jobs is to promote my city by being a cheerleader and having a little fun. This ceremonial renaming of Glendale doesn’t cost the taxpayers. And it shows that we’re serious about our sports and entertainment district, which is where State Farm Stadium is located, and have fun at the same time. We encourage everyone in Italy to come to visit! ».
The singer’s fans went crazy after this announcement.
Some swifties will arrive in Glendale directly from Italy as well.
With the hope of her fans that the name will be changed for good, the singer herself has not yet spoken out, nor has she thanked the city for this unprecedented tribute.
