Meeting on European law framework on migrants issues
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni with the Prime ministers of Denmark and Netherlands promoted an informal meeting about innovative solutions for migrants. It focused on the need of an increasing and effective European regulatory framework to sustain solutions as the Italian-Albanian model and the creation of “return hubs”.
Meloni confirms support for “a just peace in Ukraine” during NATO summit
A three-hour summit was held at the residence of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on the evening of December 18. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni emphasized Italy’s support for Ukraine and its right to self-defense. She highlighted the objective of achieving “a just and lasting peace based on international law and the principles of the UN Charter”.
Sparkle’s sottomarine cables: 700 million euros offer
The Ministry of Economy and Finance, together with the telecommunications group Retelit, has presented a 700 million euros binding offer for the Sparkle division of TIM (Italian Telecommunications Company). The Retelit group is controlled by the investment management firm Asterion. Sparkle’s importance lies in its ownership of submarine cables, which are of strategic interest.
Budget law protest at the Parliament
The absence of the government for the opening session for the budget law has provoked the protest of the opposition. “It’s lawful to protest. The opposition is made to protest. Minister of Instruction asks to be civil part for the damages of the occupation
The minister of instruction Valditara asks to become a civil party in the trials for those responsible for the damage in the schools. The student occupations in several schools as Gaullace or Virgilio high school in Rome or those at the Pacinotti and Da Vinci Institute in Pisa Tuscany caused thousands of euros of damage and the Minister’s aim is to obtain compensation for the damages.
President Mattarella greetings for the Italian Mission in Kosovo
President Giorgio Mattarella speaks about the importance of dialogue between Pristina and Belgrado during the greeting ceremony for the Italian contingent engaged in Kosovo for the Kfor mission. “The Risk of intromission from foreign forces in the Balkan area is really risky” says the President and underlines the role of the Italian mission in the international mission.
One billion euros for TAV, Lega amendment approved
The parliamentary budget committee has approved the amendment proposed by the Lega party. It includes investments for the railways, the hydraulic sector and one billion euros for TAV. TAV consists of a railway line that would connect directly with the High Speed Velocity Turin in Italy and Lion in France.
Man kills his wife and attempts suicide
The woman is dead while he is in hospital. A man killed his wife and attempted, with the same knife, a suicide. It happened in Ripaberarda, a small city close to Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region. The children were Present in the home during the fact. The reasons for the act are not known.
Famous Italian goalkeeper seriously injured
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma suffered a serious injury in the Ligue 1 match between Monaco and PSG. A shot to the face from Wilfried Singo caused a head impact and a deep cut that required 10 stitches on his right cheek. Despite bleeding heavily, Donnarumma left the field in the 20th minute. The referee did not sanction Singo, provoking protests from Donnarumma.
Forfaits and exclusion from the Rome New Year’s event
Polemics about the exclusion of Tony Effe from the New Year’s Eve Concert. The mayor of Rome, Gualtieri, decided to cancel his performance because of the protest of Feminist associations which defined the content of his lyrics as sexist. Mahmood and Mara Sattei and other artists who also should have attended the concert have denied the invitation in solidarity with the roman trapper.
