The government had tied the bill to a confidence vote, and it had already been approved by the Chamber of Deputies on February 18. With today’s Senate vote, it now becomes law.

The inquiry concerns alleged illicit deals linked to public contracts. “I am calm and confident in the judiciary,” Roberti stated. Political tensions rise over Trump’s Gaza video

“It is a gruesome, disgusting video,” said Laura Boldrini, Democratic Party MP. The opposition has strongly criticized a video shared by Donald Trump on Gaza, calling for a distancing. In Parliament, they urged Prime Minister Meloni to take a clear stance. The government has yet to respond, while concerns grow.  Meloni should tell us whether she wants to stand on the side of justice or be an accomplice to genocide,” said M5S MP Stefania Ascari.

Arrests in Italy on youth crime

In a nationwide operation, Italian police arrested 70 young people, of which 13 of them are minors for crimes including attempted murder, violence, and drug offenses. Another 142 including 29 minors were reported for weapon possession, trafficking, and theft. Authorities also identified 600 social media profiles promoting violence.

Court hearing starts for suspected killing of wife 

The trial of Igor Sollai for the murder of his wife, Francesca Deidda, began today in Cagliari. Sollai, in custody, faces charges of premeditated murder and concealment of a corpse. Prosecutors suggest he killed her to claim €100,000 life insurance. The victim’s family is part of the case, and the next hearing is set for May 7.

Investigation after accident on via Laurentina in Rome

A 19-year-old girl was killed by a car on Via Laurentina in Rome. The 72-year-old driver stopped to assist. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the car was speeding or ran a red light. The driver is being tested for alcohol or drugs and may face vehicular manslaughter charges.

Art Déco pieces on display in Milan

Eleven works from the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche di Faenza will be on display at Palazzo Reale in Milan from February 27 to June 29 as part of the exhibition Intorno al 1925. Il trionfo dell’Art Déco, curated by Valerio Terraroli. The exhibition celebrates the centenary of the 1925 Paris Exposition, which defined the Art Déco style.
