Ex-boyfriend receives life sentence in femicide case
Filippo Turetta was found guilty of premeditated murder for killing his ex-girlfriend, Giulia Cecchettin, one year ago. The court excluded the aggravating factors of cruelty and stalking. He was also ordered to compensate the victim’s family and cover their legal fees. “My feeling,” commented the father Gino Cecchettin, “is that we have all lost as a society; no one can bring my Giulia back to me”.
Final sentences for Rigopiano hotel avalanche disaster
Supreme Court has issued final rulings on the Rigopiano disaster, where an avalanche struck a hotel in January 2017, killing 29 people. The court confirmed the sentence of one year and eight months for the former prefect of Pescara for neglect of office and forgery. The same punishment was also imposed on the hotel manager. Meanwhile, 13 individuals, previously acquitted, will face a second appeal.

Italian citizens can now store documents digitally with IT-Wallet
The trial for IT-Wallet, the digital wallet on the IO app, concludes on December 4. Starting now, Italians over 18 can create digital versions of documents previously required in original forms, such as the driver’s license, the health card, and the European disability card. The identity card is not yet eligible for storage in the digital wallet, and it is unclear when or if it will be added.

The fair for small and medium-sized publishing begins in Rome
“Più Libri Più Liberi” book fair opens on December 4th, with Minister of Culture Giuli in attendance. The event will run until December 8th, showcasing various cultural activities.
