Five arrested in Italy for alleged ties to Al-Qaeda and ISIS
The Special Operations Grouping (ROS) is carrying out arrests based on a custody order from the Bologna court. The order follows an investigation led by the Bologna Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with the national anti-mafia and anti-terrorism prosecutors. The investigation involves five young foreign nationals living in Bologna, Milan, Udine, and Perugia, who are accused of being part of a terrorist group supporting and promoting Al-Qaeda and ISIS.
Search halted for missing climbers on Gran Sasso; Rescuers stranded
Two climbers from Emilia-Romagna Region reamain missing on the Gran Sasso, a massif on the Apennine Mountains. Efforts to locate them have been suspended due to bad weather. Eleven Alpine Rescue operators are stranded at Campo Imperatore and unable to descend due to a cable car malfunction, remaining stuck at around 2,100 meters. Improved weather conditions are expected after Christmas.
Woman killed by falling tree during strong winds in Rome
Francesca Ianni, 45, passed away after being struck by a falling tree in a Rome park, while her friend had injuries. The tree’s weakened roots, due to previous roadwork, caused it to fall during strong winds. Authorities are looking into the incident.
Student survives stabbing: awakening scheduled for Christmas

The attack was stopped by some colleagues who disarmed the assailant. Doctors confirm Martina’s high chances of survival and plan to gradually awaken her on Christmas Day.

Geox donates 1,000 pairs of shoes to children affected by floods
“To bring a smile to children and their families,” said Geox president Mario Moretti Polegato about the initiative aimed at supporting affected families during the festive season. In response to the devastating floods in Valencia, the Italian firm Geox has donated 1,000 pairs of children’s shoes in collaboration with CEU Cardenal Herrera University.
