Shooting in Catania: young man killed

A 20-year-old turned himself in to the police, confessing to the crime. Giuseppe Francesco Castiglione, a 21-year-old man, died after a shooting in Catania last night. The killer fired five shots before escaping on his motorbike. The victim, transported to the hospital, died shortly after. Authorities are investigating the motives behind the fatal shooting.

Vittorio Rizzi appointed new head of secret services 

The announcement was made by Meloni during a press conference at Parliament. Vittorio Rizzi, vice-director of the Internal Intelligence and Security Agency (AISI), has been named the new head of Italy’s Department of Information for Security (DIS), succeeding Elisabetta Belloni following her retirement. Rizzi will monitor intelligence and security coordination in Italy. 

A 3.7 magnitude earthquake shakes the Province of Udine

The tremor, felt by residents but causing no reported injuries or major damage, occurred at 2:58 AM of January 10. A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck Udine province in northern Italy overnight, with the epicenter near Cavazzo Carnico. Authorities continue monitoring the area. No disruptions to infrastructure have been reported.

The 2025 Lions for Dance
